RAEX400 steel is a hardened wear-resistant steel material with an average grade of 400HBW and a Brinell hardness. The microstructure of this wear-resistant steel is a martensite structure, which can ensure the high hardness and tensile hardness of the steel plate. The hardness of RAEX400 is 2.5 times that of S355 structural steel, S900MC steel for car axle. Despite its high hardness and high strength, RAEX400 steel can be formed by free bending or hemming, and has good weldability.

As to the Chemical composition, the different content is a main on carbon content, while the carbon content of , A283Gr. D is no more than 0.27% and it is higher than Grade C (≤0.24%) ; as to the mechanical property, the differences are tensile strength and yield strength, while the tensile strength of ASTM A283 Gr.D is 415-550MPa (60-80 ksi) and yield strength of ASTM A283 Grade D is 230MPa (33 ksi).

Tata Steel Europe plans to cut 1250 jobs. Henrik Adam, CEO of Tata Steel, said: "the financial situation of Tata Steel Europe is very serious at present, and there is an urgent need to improve the company's performance and financial situation." Tata Steel has decided in November 2019 to cut 3000 jobs in its European operations to reduce costs.
